The solution

We simply use a presentation box for coins. Those boxes do have clear walls with optical properties similar to glass. Our favourite is "Leuchtturm®/Lighthouse®" but others might work as well.

Just ask for it at your local stamp/coin collectors' shop. Sometimes they are available in storehouses as well. And, for the authors among you: please do not forget where you did get this hint for the first time ;-)
